The next team selected will be Yonsei 30 for travel to Fukuoka, Japan in Summer 2023.

Application Requirements

​

Applicants must have played on a SEYO, CYC, CBO, or JAO team for at least one season between 2nd grade and 8th grade. They should currently be in the 8th grade. (an exception is being made this year to allow 9th graders to apply.)

• Submit Application Part 1 here as soon as possible.

  • 48 hours after Part 1 is received, a link to Application Part 2 will be emailed to you.​

• Submit Application Part 2 online by December 1, 2022 (11:59 PM PT) including the following materials:

  • Copy of current transcript; minimum 3.0 GPA required

  • Photo of player

  • Photo of player with their family

  • Two (2) letters of recommendation from non-family members (If recommenders prefer submitting their letters directly to Yonsei, they may be emailed to yonsei30team@gmail.com)

Yonsei reserves the right to determine eligibility on a case by case basis.

• Saturday, January 14 - Tryouts & Brief Essay​

  • Medical Consent and Injury Waiver and Liability Waiver will need to be signed on site.

  • In the event of illness or injury with a doctor's note, an unedited game or practice video taken within the last 12 months will be accepted if submitted on this day. This exception will also be made for 9th graders unable to participate in the basketball tryout due to CIF rules.

  • Even if submitting a video, applicants must attend tryouts except for COVID cases or other illness with a doctor's note.

• Saturday, January 21 - Applicant & Parent Interviews (both parents must attend)​​​

 

There will be no alternate or make up days for tryouts or interviews.​

Participation Requirements 

​​

• Player must fundraise their trip expense and program costs (amount TBD; $3,500 in prior years) and participate in Inbound Year (second year) fundraising.

• One parent/guardian must accompany the player to Japan.

• Each family may host a player from Japan during the Inbound Year.

• Both parents are highly encouraged to attend all meetings and activities but one parent/guardian must attend all meetings and activities with the player. Please discuss school conflicts and family emergencies with the Team Board members for exceptions.

• Player and both parents must attend the Golf Tournament and Orientation.

 Upon selection, additional requirements for travel, participation and commitment to the team will be provided at Orientation on February 4.
